The Perfect Dress - Scrap Around the World August Mood Board

I haven't played with the mood boards from Scrap Around the World much but this months grabbed me. It took awhile for a page to come to me but while I was looking at our wedding photo's the other day I came across some photos of my dress that just worked!

Here is the mood board for August…
Last November my wonderful hubby and I got married. I'd found the dress I wanted on the Luv Bridal website and the moment I put it on I knew it was the perfect dress. Our photographer captured some beautiful pictures of it and these are the photos I've used for this page.
I've used some old Websters Pages paper for the base, I've then used some little bits of chippy, some muslin and some lovely flowers..
To add to the back ground I've used texture paste over an "Art Is" & Tim Holtz Measurements template then brushed over the texture using gesso.
I've even included a little bit of my wedding dress in this page, the band around the waist of the mannequin is from the shoulder straps that came with my dress ...

That's all for now,

Thanks for stopping by,

Kaye :-)

Captured Moments - Scrap the Girls

Its Sunday evening and I managed to do a little scrapping this weekend. I decided to try a challenge from a site I haven't played with before, a lovely site called "Scrap the Girls". They provided inspiration by way of a great mood board …
I loved the colours and instantly thought of one of our wedding photos but I needed sketch to base my page and I found this thanks to Page Maps….
And here is the result of my inspiration ….
The two beautiful girls in this photo are my step-daughters who were my bridesmaids when I married their dad last November. I love this photo of them and thought of it as soon as I saw the mood board.
For this page I've used some old Graphic 45 paper from my stash. The frame is  a Scrapmatts chipboard frame that I've painted with "Emperor's Gold" Silks Acrylic Glaze. I've used this on the title and on the words under the photo. I've also gone back to my old favourite … Stitching!!! I love stitching on my pages.

That's all for now, better go get ready for the working week, thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

Kaye :-)

Sketchabilities #120 & Catch Up

Wow! Its been a while since I posted anything, it's been a busy old time of late. Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be able to go to a craft retreat organised by the ladies at Impressive Stamps Australia, it was a great weekend with lots of lovely ladies and a gentleman. I found a bit of scrapping mojo while I was there and heres what I created.

First up is my take on the current Sketchabilities sketch #120. This is the sketch…
And heres my take on it …

This is my 22 month old Aussie Bulldog named Jay. It's a common bulldog trait to sleep with their tongue out and he just looked so cute.

For this page I've used one of the recent Kaisercraft ranges called "Happy Snaps", it's a really great range and I had fun cutting parts of it out and popping it up with foam dots as you can see in this photo.

Next I had a play around with one of our wedding photos, it started off as a scrap-lift off a layout I found on Pintrest but I couldn't get it to work so I gave up on the scrap-lift and this is what I came up with …. I'm pleased with the end result.
For this page I've used another recent Kaisercraft paper called "Bea-YOU-tiful, I've then used texture paste over a brick stencil, added some glimmer mist, flowers, some pearls and chippy and there you have it!.

Finally, last but not least is a double page of our fur babies using the Bo Bunny range called "Our Lil Monsters". The first page is titled the same and is of our three Aussie Bulldogs and our Am Staff.
I couldn't resist cutting out little monsters from the paper and popping them up with liquid scrap dots as embellishments.

Next is the page entitled "Bulldog Bums", I just love the way Macca & Jay wiggle their bums together when they are excited and want a pat … during a family photo shoot China managed to capture this moment in this very cute photo….
Again I cut out little monsters from the paper and popped them up with scrap dots plus I added a "Collections" chipboard tree which I sprayed with Tattered Leather Glimmer Mist spray.

Together they make a double page spread that looks like this …

Well thanks for dropping by, I hope to be back with some more creations soon so until next time …

Bye for now,

Kaye :-)

"Step Forward" - Scrap Around the World April Palette

This is the first time I have attempted a Scrap Around the World palette, but I loved this one. While I love the butterflies and the cracked paint I think it was colours that really drew me too it.

This is my take on the palette, inspired by the colours in the palette. The photo I've used is another one of the family photos taken by China at our family photos.
Here's a closeup of the journalling, I don't normally use my hand writing for journalling as I don't really like it so this is a rarity :-)
The journalling is a little hard to read in the picture but it says:
"A few years ago while going through a very difficult time in my life a very smart friend
sent me a text that contained this quote:
"If you don't go after what you want,
                                      you'll never have it.
                                      If you don't ask,
the answer will always be no.
                                      If you don't step forward,
you're always in the same place"
     ... Thankfully I took a "Step Forward"."

Here's another close up of the other side of the page. I love the little zip, it's by Prima. I had seen them used but everywhere was always sold out, until finally I managed to get some from The Scrap Cottage, an awesome online store that also has a bricks & mortar store in Toowoomba.
 Well thanks for stopping by,

Until next time,

Kaye :-)

Cherish these Moments - Sketchabilities #112

A couple months ago we had some family photos taken by the talented China James from China Blue Photography and when I saw the latest Sketchabilities sketch I knew it would be perfect for these photos of Jonno with his girls. So I've used the sketch to do a double page layout. The first page of Jonno & Emily I've used the sketch as it came, like this..

But for the page of Jacinta & Jonno I turned the sketch sideways like this ...

And together it makes "Cherish these Moments"...
I kept it fairly simple so that the focus was on the beautiful photos, to add dimension I used texture paste and a brick wall stencil, then painted the dried paste using "Sugar Maple" Glimmer Mist. The chipboard is all painted with  "Key Lime" Silks Acrylic Glaze.
Well that's all for now, thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

Kaye :-)

Kindred Spirit - 123 Challenge - February Challenge

After about a week of playing I have finally finished my take on the February challenge from 123 Challenge Blog. I decided to go for a mixed media canvas instead of a page like I normally do and I had a ball doing it. Here's what I had to work with, the February Challenge .... Colour: Purple    Word: Spirit   Technique:  Texture
I thought it lent itself perfectly to mixed media, and here's what I came up with ...
I used another wedding photo, the purple went perfectly with it as my bridesmaids wore purple.
I think I went into texture over load, I've used Dusty Attic chipboard, muslin cloth, texture paste and Jo Sonya's Crackle Accent.

The colours I've used are all Tattered Angels Glimmermist's - Tattered Leather, Black Magic and Deep Plum. I love the effect of them once they are sprayed over the crackle accent.
And then I've added some metal embellishments to top it all off.

Well, that's all from me for now, thanks for stopping by.

Until next time.

Kaye :-)

"Totally Addicted to ..." - Once Upon A Sketch February Challenge

This months Once Upon A Sketch challenge had the theme of "Totally Addicted to ...".
I loved the sketch but I struggled with the theme, but then it came to me and this is what I came up with ...

Here's a couple close ups of the chippie, it's a little hard to see in the photos but I've used Jo Sonja's Crackle Medium then I brushed Silks Acrylic Glaze (Key Lime) over it. For the title I've painted it white using an Adirondak dabber then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist "Rum Raisin". I love the effect I ended up with, where the paint layer was thinner the Glimmer Mist soaked through more and gave the darker patches.

Like I said before, I struggled with the theme, until I heard a song by Avicii entitled "Addicted to You", when I looked up the words it just clicked ... they were perfect!

For the journalling I've used the first verse and chorus, it's a bit hard to see the words in the photo but they say:
"I don't know just how it happened, I let down my guard ...
Swore I'd never fall in love again but I fell hard.
Guess I should have seen it coming, caught me by surprise...
I wasn't looking where I was going, I fell into your eyes.

You came into my world like a cool and cleansing grace.
Before I knew what hit me baby you were flowing through my veins ...

I'm addicted to you! Hooked on your love,
like a powerful drug, I can't get enough of,
Lost in your eyes, drowning in blue
Outta control, what can I do?
I'm addicted to you!"

I was married at 18, and when I left my ex husband after 17 years of marriage I was determined to be single and travel the world, another relationship, let alone marriage was the last thing on my mind .... but right at the time my marriage ended I happened to come into contact with an old school friend I hadn't had any contact with for about 17 years ..... happily plans change, Jonno & I were married last November .... my lifelong friend to continue my life's journey with.

So, there's the story behind my inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read it.

Until next time,

Kaye :-)

I Don't Do Scotch! - Sketchabilities # 108

I love the beginning of the month .... all the new challenges are released!!!!! Yesterday I got inspired by Sketchabilitites # 108.

We recently received the disc of wedding photos from our photographer, she did such a beautiful job, I'm going to have a ball scrapping them all! Because the sketch had space to use 3 small photos I decided to use three of the series she took of us when we swapped drinks. Jonno had a hip flask that I gave him for the wedding full of Scotch and I had a glass of Champagne. I thought it would be funny to swap for the photo but Jonno said I had to take a swig ..... yeah, straight Scotch just isn't my thing!!!

Anyway, now you have the story behind the photos, this is where my inspiration took me
I've used one of the recent Kaiser Craft releases called Art of Life .... absolutely gorgeous! The main paper is "Paper Always" and the cream script print is called "Paper Creative".

To add a little more effect I've used a couple Kaiser Craft background stamps (No ... I'm not sponsored by Kaisercraft .... just have a lot of there products :-)) with clear ink that I've embossed with two different embossing powders.

On the other side of the page I've used Texture Paste over a script mask to add some dimension to the page.

Here's a close up of the photos and the journaling since its a little had to see in the other photos.

Well, that's all for now .... hopefully the inspiration continues 'cos I've got lots of lovely photos to scrap.

Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

Cheers,

Kaye :-)

Exquisite Beauty - Sketchabilities #106

The past few days the temperature has been through the roof but the up side is that it's encouraged me to stay inside in the aircon and scrap! Fortunately for me inspiration has hit.

The source of my inspiration this time was Sketchabilities #106...
And here's my take on it....
The photo I've used is of a Peacock which I took at McIntosh Island, Gold Coast in November. I edited the photo in Picasa to enhance the colours.

I had a lot of fun with this page, playing around with punches, glimmer mist, stamps and embossing powder to get the results I wanted. It's a little hard to see in the main photo but in these closeups you can see more detail of these techniques.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

Kaye :-)

Family - January OUAS

The theme accompanying the January Once Upon A Sketch Challenge is "Lesson Learnt". As soon as I saw it I instantly thought of the photo I would use and how I would apply the theme. The photo I've used is of my two dear friends Bella and Susan taken on the morning of my wedding in November, Susan traveled all the way from Western Australia to the Gold Coast just to attend my wedding. Over the past few years Susan and Bella have helped me more than words can say, and I don't know where I would be without them. During this time I learned a very important lesson .... family are not simply those related to you by blood, they are those that stand by you through the bad times and the good.

Here's January's sketch ...
And here's my take on it ...
Some close ups of the journalling
and of the embellishments.

Well, that's all for now, although its so hot here today I'm not leaving the comfort of the air conditioning so hopefully I'll get another page finished.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time.

Kaye :-)
