I loved the sketch but I struggled with the theme, but then it came to me and this is what I came up with ...
Here's a couple close ups of the chippie, it's a little hard to see in the photos but I've used Jo Sonja's Crackle Medium then I brushed Silks Acrylic Glaze (Key Lime) over it. For the title I've painted it white using an Adirondak dabber then sprayed it with Glimmer Mist "Rum Raisin". I love the effect I ended up with, where the paint layer was thinner the Glimmer Mist soaked through more and gave the darker patches.
Like I said before, I struggled with the theme, until I heard a song by Avicii entitled "Addicted to You", when I looked up the words it just clicked ... they were perfect!
For the journalling I've used the first verse and chorus, it's a bit hard to see the words in the photo but they say:
"I don't know just how it happened, I let down my guard ...
Swore I'd never fall in love again but I fell hard.
Guess I should have seen it coming, caught me by surprise...
I wasn't looking where I was going, I fell into your eyes.
You came into my world like a cool and cleansing grace.
Before I knew what hit me baby you were flowing through my veins ...
I'm addicted to you! Hooked on your love,
like a powerful drug, I can't get enough of,
Lost in your eyes, drowning in blue
Outta control, what can I do?
I'm addicted to you!"
I was married at 18, and when I left my ex husband after 17 years of marriage I was determined to be single and travel the world, another relationship, let alone marriage was the last thing on my mind .... but right at the time my marriage ended I happened to come into contact with an old school friend I hadn't had any contact with for about 17 years ..... happily plans change, Jonno & I were married last November .... my lifelong friend to continue my life's journey with.
So, there's the story behind my inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read it.
Until next time,
Kaye :-)

ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! What a great take on our sketch over at OUAS....thanks for joining....& I just ADORE how you've altered your title & that ribbon threading.....I've a similar sorta story...moved in with my boyfriend at 16....then it all fell apart early 30s & found my True Love soon after....so glad you are happy & contented - if a little addicted..LOL!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lizzy, Jonno & I have a rather long story. We were born two days apart in the same hospital (our mums shared a hospital room), our birth notices were even one above the other in the newspaper and for some reason my mum cut them both out and kept them ... I still have them. Apparently when were 11, Jonno used to tell my mum that he was going to marry me one day and my mum would always reply "I'm sure you will dear". Sadly my mum passed away in March 2011 before we found each other again so she never knew that we got together in the end.
DeleteOh Wow Kaye, this is gorgeous!! I LOVE this song.....fits perfectly to your lovely story, thanks for sharing! I also have to say that the quote at the top of your page (in your blog header) is absolutely awesome!!! I just love it and your sweet page here....thanks for playing along at OUAS :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey, the quote in my blog header came to me one day when I was struggling with my scrapping mojo, and it hit me that I was struggling to achieve perfection when I should just be enjoying the creative process :-)

Deletewhat a moving love story! the way you did the lacing is so beautiful, and so symbolic of how two different people's lives are entwined together to become one new one. simply wonderful page. Thanks for playing along with us at OUAS :)
ReplyDeleteThe lacing reminds me of the stress in lacing yours and the bridesmaids gowns and trying to get them to sit flat! I love that you have used the lacing on this page and as always the other elements are perfect.
